Services for Adults and Couples

Adult and Couples Psychodynamic / Psychoanalytic Consultation: A meeting or a series of meetings (each lasting an hour and a half) in a confidential and contained setting to understand the nature of your difficulties and what treatment might be beneficial.

Adult and Couples Psychodynamic / Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy: A treatment process that involves a dynamic relationship between the psychotherapist and the individual/couple. Sessions occur at regular intervals within a setting where the individual/couple can develop an understanding of themselves and their internal world and behaviours, considering both the past and the present with the aim of facilitating a more fulfilling life.

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is an intensive form of treatment requiring a high frequency of sessions, ranging from two to three times a week. Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is a less intensive form of psychotherapeutic approach based on the psychoanalytic principles, with sessions occurring once a week.

Brief Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: A timely brief type of psychodynamic psychotherapy which consists of approximately 16 sessions. It is a more structured form of psychotherapy structured in relation to a commonly defined interpersonal emotional problem. It is usually structured in three stages, each of which has distinct aims and strategies.

Psychodynamic / Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy may be suitable for people who are experiencing a possible range of difficulties in their everyday life. These may include any of the following:

  • Abuse and trauma

  • Difficulty in relationships or work

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Bereavement

  • Depression, self-destructive or suicidal feelings

  • Personality problems

  • Eating disorders

  • Personality problems

If after the initial consultation Psychodynamic / Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is deemed to be unsuitable for the individual other forms of treatment can be recommended.
